The Continuous Care program helps Viadur® patients stay on track with their treatment program. Throughout the year, program members receive informational newsletters, support information, and valuable health coupons.

Continuous Care members also receive follow-up appointment reminder postcards, including an appointment reminder before their Viadur implant anniversary date. It's very important that you keep your scheduled appointment so that your doctor can remove the current Viadur implant. If you and your doctor determine that Viadur therapy will be continued, a new Viadur implant can be inserted for another year of continuous Viadur therapy. This way, you will be getting the treatment you need everyday, all year long.

And to make sure that you receive all of the support you need during your Viadur treatment, the Continuous Care program joined with Us Too - the nation's largest independent network of education support groups for men living with prostate cancer and their families. Us Too provides peer counseling, education, and discussion about treatment options and alternatives. Us Too has hundreds of local chapters around the country.

Important Safety Considerations
Viadur should not be used by patients who are allergic to the drug leuprolide. Viadur should not be used by women or children and was not studied in women or children.
Viadur, like other similar medications, causes a temporary increase of testosterone in the blood during the first week of treatment. During this initial period, patients may experience worsening of symptoms or onset of new symptoms including bone pain, nervous system disturbances, blood in the urine, difficulty urinating, and spinal cord compression.
During treatment, the most common side effects reported throughout the body were hot flashes, lack of energy, breast enlargement, depression, and sweating. The most common side effects reported where the implant was inserted in the arm were bruising and burning.
